Nanaimo Clippers defeat Powell River Kings for third straight time

Powell River Kings faced Nanaimo Clippers for a third time this season on Sunday, November 3. The latest result between the two BC Hockey League Island Division teams ended in a similar fashion as the first two, a shutout win for the Clippers, who hosted the third road game of the weekend for the Kings.

Nanaimo scored two goals in each period, including two while Powell River was shorthanded, en route to a 6-0 win. Kings were unsuccessful on four powerplay opportunities.

Kings goaltender Derek Krall stopped 32 of 38 shots while his counterpart Jordan Nayler made 36 saves to record his third shutout of the season, all against the Kings.

Attendance at Frank Crane Arena was 1,217.

Powell River started the road trip with a 4-3 comeback win over Cowichan Valley Capitals on Friday, November 1, then fell 4-0 the following evening to Alberni Valley Bulldogs.

Powell River’s next home game is Friday, November 8, versus West Kelowna Warriors. Game time at Hap Parker Arena is 7 pm.
