Powell River athlete claims double gold at track provincials

Nelle Liefsoens wins two running events in Surrey

Nelle Liefsoens, 11, had two gold medals in her backpack while travelling home on Sunday, July 21, after competing at the 2019 BC Junior Development Provincial Track and Field Championships in South Surrey.

Nelle was first over the finish line on Saturday in the 600 metres with a time of one minute, 52 seconds, and managed to do the same on Sunday in the 1,000 metres with a time of three minutes, 25 seconds, setting personal bests in both events.

Nelle is a member of the Powell River Breakers Track and Field Club.
