Powell River Kings rebounded from a home loss on Friday, December 7, by trouncing the defending Royal Bank Cup national champions on the road.

Kings travelled to Chilliwack on Saturday, December 8, and shutout the Chiefs 5-0.

After a scoreless first period, Ryan Brushett scored his 24th and 25th goals of the season, with Ethan Kimball’s fourth of the year sandwiched in-between.

Mitchell Williams scored unassisted nine seconds into the third period, increasing the lead to 4-0, and Derek Pouliot added a late powerplay marker, also unassisted, to complete the scoring.

First star Mitch Adamyk stopped all 21 shots he faced en route to his fourth shutout in the past three weeks.

Kings swept the three-star selections. Brushett’s pair of goals moved him into sole possession of top spot in BC Hockey League goal scoring and earned second-star status. With two assists, defender Jayden Lee claimed third-star recognition.

Kings return to action next weekend with games in Langely (December 14), Merritt (December 15) and Coquitlam (December 16) before a 13-day holiday break.
