Powell River Kings’ forward Reilly Moran scored twice against Merritt Centennials on Friday, December 13, but his 13th and 14th goals of the BC Hockey League season were not enough for the home team.

Merritt scored twice in each of the first two periods at Hap Parker Arena to take a 4-2 lead then hung on for a 4-3 win after Moran’s second of the game 3:22 into the third period cut the lead in half. Jack Long also scored for Powell River, unassisted in the second period.

PJ Garrett assisted on Moran’s first-period goal; Jacob Badal and Michael Abgrall set up his goal in the third.

Powell River outshot Merritt 34-31, including by an 11-5 margin in the final period. Derek Krall stopped 27 of the 31 shots he faced for the Kings. His counterpart Tanner Marshall made 31 saves in the game.

Attendance was 724.

Kings begin a four-game road trip in Langley on Tuesday, December 17.
