Sports brief: Villa poses with supporters

Powell River Villa soccer club played its final game of a fantastic season on May 6, losing 2-1 in a tight BC Soccer Provincial B Keith Millar Cup semi-final against Vancouver Strikers.

Club members posed for a photo with their supporters, who cheered them on in Vancouver.

Management and roster on hand included [front row, from left] head coach Chris McDonough, president Jamie Zroback, and players Chris Fisher, Scott Livingstone, Scott Sawchuk, Dean Thorsell, Kye Taylor, Kurtis Dennison, Greg Smith, James Timothy, Jerek Long, Cullen Bulhozer, Grant Campbell, Patrick Rainville, Brandon Rairie, Matt Liknes, Craig Simmonds, Nick Van't Schip and Daniel Paul.

Villa won Division 3A in the 2017/2018 Vancouver Island Soccer League season and, as a result, will play Division 2 in 2018/2019.
