Powell River Chamber of Commerce, Rotary to host Blackberry Fest

Organizations taking over planning for annual street party on Marine Avenue

When the Blackberry Festival Street Party returns to Marine Avenue this summer, Powell River Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Powell River will serve as co-hosts of the annual event. This gathering pays homage to the black or dark purple seedy fruit, which is abundant throughout the qathet region.

"The Blackberry Festival Street Party is more than just a celebration of a fruit; it's a celebration of our community spirit," stated chamber president Dave Formosa. "It's a time for us to come together, enjoy each other's company and create lasting memories."

Attendees can expect a feast for the senses, with live music, artisan and food vendors and an array of blackberry-themed treats, including pies, jams and refreshing beverages, according to a media release from organizers.

"Each August, locals and visitors anticipate the festivities, making it a tradition to reunite with friends and acquaintances for an evening of laughter, music and culinary delights. Get ready to indulge in a night of fruity fun."

Marine Avenue in Westview will be transformed into a vibrant celebration of community and culture from 6 to 10 pm on Friday, August 16, culminating in the Festival of Lights fireworks spectacle at Willingdon Beach.

"Whether you're a longtime resident or a first-time visitor, the Blackberry Festival Street Party promises an unforgettable experience for all ages," the release stated. "Mark your calendars, gather your friends and family, and join us for a night of celebration under the stars."
