Postal workers across Canada returned to work as of 9 am on Tuesday, November 27, including employees at Powell River outlets.

Legislation was approved by the Senate of Canada and given royal assent. The passing of Bill C-89 ends five weeks of rotating strikes by Canadian Union of Postal Workers.

Canada Post has stated that it could take weeks to clear the buildup of packages at sorting centres in Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto.

The postal workers union has stated it will fight the back-to-work legislation.
