RCMP has named 19-year-old Jason Timothy Foulds of Powell River as the suspect in a shooting in Lund that left two other young men dead.

RCMP responded to a call at the 1500 block of Scotch Place at 5:15 am the morning of Saturday, June 17, to find two victims deceased and one injured.

In a media statement, RCMP E Division corporal Janelle Shoihet said Foulds has formally been charged with two counts of first degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

Police are not releasing the names of the victims at this time out of respect for the privacy of the families involved, although other media outlets have confirmed their identities from social media.

Foulds appeared before a justice of the peace the night of Saturday, June 17, to answer to the three charges. He will remain in custody until his next court appearance on Tuesday, June 27.

Investigators from RCMP's Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit, along with its forensic team and Powell River RCMP, will be at the crime scene for several more days, according to the RCMP statement.
