Powell River Kings overcame a 1-0 first period deficit by scoring seven unanswered goals to rout the visiting Alberni Valley Bulldogs at Hap Parker Arena on Friday, February 7.

Reilly Moran led the way offensively for the Kings, scoring once and adding two assists in a five-goal second period for the home team, as well as combining with Davis Pennington to set up the seventh and final goal of the game in the third, the sixth of the season for Brett Pfoh.

Pennington collected three points on the night, including the tying goal on a power play to get the Kings on the scoreboard.

Powell River scored four more times in the second period, including two from Brett Roloson, who reached the 20-goal mark for the season, and Levi Glasman, who added his 19th of the 2019/2020 campaign.

Prior to Pfoh’s goal, defenders Ben Wozney and Ian Kern assisted on the Kings’ sixth goal of the game, which came off the stick of Nolan Krogfoss at 6:23 of a penalty filled third period to round out the scoring.

Kings solidified their hold on third place in BC Hockey League Island Division standings with the 7-1 win, increasing their lead over the fourth-place Bulldogs to seven points. Cowichan Valley leads the division with 73 points, followed by Nanaimo (66), Powell River (58), Alberni (51) and Victoria (43).

Attendance was 807.

Pennington was named the game’s first star, followed by Moran (second) and Roloson (third). Goaltender Derek Krall stopped 28 of 29 shots to earn the win. Kings outshot the Bulldogs 35 to 29.

Powell River has earned at least a point in seven straight home games (six wins, one ovetime loss). The club’s last regulation loss at home came on January 10 against Wenatchee.
