Town Plaza Medical Clinic patients can have their medical records transferred for a fee.

Patients of the former Town Plaza Medical Clinic in Whistler can have their medical records transferred for a fee.

The clinic notes that the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC advises that records should be transferred between medical offices, and that patients should contact their new physician's office to request that a Medical Records Transfer Request Form is sent to Town Plaza.

"Upon receipt of this form, your records will be released to the new physician. If you are requesting an exception to the delivery of the medical records to another medical office, please indicate that to us," the clinic said in an email to patients.

If you don't have a new physician, you can have your records sent to you directly.

The fee for medical records retrieval is $110 per request (plus a surcharge for large file requests, if applicable).

Town Plaza's closure last year only exacerbated an already challenging health-care situation in the resort. Finding solutions to local health-care woes will be a major project for resort stakeholders in 2023.
