He called his dad to tell him the good news, and his dad drove in to find out if it was real.

David Albrecht won $300,000 on a scratch lotto ticket he bought in Metro Vancouver at a Langley gas station.

Sometimes scratching quells an itch. Sometimes it wins you $300,000.

That's what happened for David Albrecht of Aldergrove. He bought a ticket at a gas station convenience store in Langley recently, trying his luck with a $30 Prestige Scratch and Win. The pricey scratch ticket turned out to be a worthwhile investment.

He was on his way to work when he scratched it, according to a BCLC press release.

“I thought, ‘This can’t be real,'" he recalls in the release. “Once I scanned it on my phone it felt more real and I got shaky.”

The first person he told was his dad.

“I called him and he thought I was joking and didn’t believe me," he says. "He drove from out of town and once he arrived he realized it was real!”

Albrecht plans on investing most of his winnings while using some of the new funds to "kick start" opportunities for himself.
