Mold is endemic in Powell River. Approximately 25 per cent of the population has mold sensitivities and may not know their underlying, unexplained health issues are directly related, according to All Clear Mold & Pathogen Solutions Principal Tatiana Kostiak.
“As some people are more sensitive than others, Health Canada states that there is no ‘safe’ limit for mold,” says Tatiana. “Also, infants, children, seniors and people who are immunocompromised or have medical conditions including asthma and severe allergies are susceptible.”
All Clear Mold & Pathogen Solutions is headquartered in Powell River and launched last month. The company delivers a healthy indoor environment for any type of building, residential or commercial.
How long does it take? For mold the process is completed in a single day. For example, a 1,200-square-foot building is done in four hours. For virus, the process is somewhat quicker.
“We use a revolutionary treatment that kills surface and airborne mold and pathogens,” explains Tatiana, who holds a certificate in mold inspection and is also certified by the IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification) as a water damage restoration technician. She regularly updates her knowledge with certificate courses.
The company uses dry fog technology in a patented two-step process to destroy mold, bacteria and viruses. Tatiana says it is a game-changer for mold as demolition is not required. If mold has permeated a wall or other material, the dry fog microns are so small they will track back through to the root of the mold, killing it, she adds.
“It’s completely unlike topical applications that simply temporarily ‘appear’ to eliminate surface mold,” explains Tatiana. “It may look like it’s been eliminated, but it will always come back. And while other methods can spread existing mold spores throughout the building, with our process, the entire building is treated.
“When mold is stressed it spores dramatically. Our dry fog exhausts ‘mold factories,’ then kills and eliminates any toxic residue.”
In a second step, the company deploys a protective layer that leaves no residue, but does leave a positive charge on surfaces. This antimicrobial protection will continue to destroy any new spores or pathogens, according to Tatiana.
“Fogging systems are not all created equal; ours is an advanced dry fog, which means electronics, paperwork, et cetera, are safe and should be left out during our service,” she says. “Everything is sanitized. The products we use are classified FDA food safe, although we recommend storing fresh foods in containers or the refrigerator to preserve freshness.”
The technology was developed and refined to sterilize hospital rooms and is ideal for clearing viruses and bacteria from surfaces and the air.
“The fog is suspended in the air until all germs are destroyed,” says Tatiana.
All products used are non-toxic to people, pets and the planet, and approved by Health Canada.
“The first product we use is on Health Canada’s list of disinfectants with evidence for use against COVID-19,” she adds. “Because the fog gets everywhere, including HVAC systems, it’s unparalleled in terms of comprehensiveness. We are thrilled to be part of the solution for moving forward through this pandemic.”
Pricing is based on building square footage.
“New builds have used our services to give their properties the all clear,” says Tatiana, “and a new restaurant opening soon will be using our services.
“We service a large area outside of Powell River but local customers benefit from a complimentary inspection and reduced prices on testing, if required. Often a ‘before test’ is not necessary. If you see mold, you have mold.”
