The Salvation Army hosted Coldest Night of the Year, a walk to end hunger and homelessness, for the second time in Powell River on February 24. The event followed up on the success of the inaugural walk with 64 registered participants and 30 volunteers taking part. Money raised will go toward supporting the Salvation Army food bank and purchasing supplies for the organization’s community response van, which provides services to people in need and helps first responders during emergencies.
