Powell River Garden Club presents Supporting Nature: Gardening with Native Plants, 7 pm at Cranberry Seniors Centre. Presented by the South Coast Conservation Program, speakers will be Tamsin Baker from SCCP and Wendy Cocksedge. Therapeutic Riding Association provides opportunities for volunteers to enjoy fresh air, exercise and guaranteed big smiles, 45 minutes a day or more, Monday to Thursday at Paradise Valley Exhibition Grounds. Powell River Fine Arts Club studio space is open daily at 5395 Timberlane Avenue. Members create pottery, quilting, weaving, spinning, mixed-media and painting crafts in a supportive, cooperative and fun environment with mentoring and good fellowship. New members are welcome. Bagpipes and Drums

Clansman Pipe Band offers free bagpipe and drum lessons to potential band members of all ages. Student pipers buy their own practice chanter and tutor book. Community Health

Concert Band

Powell River Community Concert Band, directed by Roy Carson, meets 7:30 to 9 pm Thursdays in the Brooks Secondary School band room, 5400 Marine Avenue. Cranberry Community Hall Association

Cranberry Hall provides an affordable, versatile space for meetings and events at 6828 Cranberry Street. A song circle takes place on the second Sunday of each month and an acoustic coffeehouse takes place on the last Sunday by donation. Reach to Recovery

Reach to Recovery provides hospital and home visits to recently diagnosed breast cancer patients. Service offers one-on-one counselling with trained counsellors for anyone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer, and provides information. Rotary Club of Powell River

Salvation Army

StrongStart

StrongStart early learning programs are available for children birth to pre-kindergarten at Kelly Creek Community School, James Thomson, Henderson and Westview elementary schools, and on the ORCA Bus. St. Joseph's Hall hosts a soup kitchen from 12 to 1 pm every Friday. The hall is adjacent to Assumption Church on Glacier Street.

 

Sunshine Coast Cloggers

Sunshine Coast Cloggers meet at 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday evenings at Powell River Christian School.
