eCouture Wearable Art Fashion Show
Dwight Hall serves as host venue for the fourth annual eCouture Wearable Art Fashion Show from 6:30 to 9 pm on Saturday, April 21. The gala event will feature artists and designers who use naturally grown and dyed fibres, as well as locally produced fibres and repurposed, upcycled fashions. The show celebrates changing behaviours and highlights different ways of consuming and creating. Tickets are available for $18 at Fibre Space, Ecossentials and Base Camp.

Film Screenings
Free screenings of the documentaries Life off Grid and Rising Waters take place from 1:30 to 3 pm at the Patricia Theatre. Life off Grid follows Canadians who have disconnected from conventional methods and depicts how they deal with finding sources of heat, light, water and food, and what they do with waste. Rising Waters, by local filmmaker Claudia Medina, depicts how the climate change crisis is affecting residents of Papua New Guinea. A question and answer session with both filmmakers follows the screenings.

Single Seniors

Single Seniors meet at 5 pm on the third Sunday of every month at Trinity Hall, United Church, 6932 Crofton Street. For information about the gatherings, which feature either a potluck or catered dinner, call 604.483.6658.

St. Joseph's Hall hosts a soup kitchen from 12 to 1 pm every Friday. The hall is adjacent to Assumption Church on Glacier Street.

StrongStart early learning programs are available for children birth to pre-kindergarten at Kelly Creek Community School, James Thomson, Henderson and Westview elementary schools, and on the ORCA Bus.
