There were 317 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed since Thursday, two deaths and one new outbreak at a long-term care home.
"The virus is still spreading with new cases and clusters, which is why using our layers of protection and getting vaccinated - especially in this time of transition - is so important," provincial health officer Bonnie Henry and B.C. Health Minister Adrian Dix announced in a joint statement Friday afternoon.
There has been one new outbreak at the Brookside Lodge in the Fraser Valley.
The new cases bring the total active cases in B.C. to 3,441, with 292 people in hospital and 79 in intensive care.
Of the 143,581 British Columbians infected since the pandemic began, 138,360 have recovered.
To date, 3,106,289 doses of one of the three vaccines available in B.c. have been given, bringing the total percentage of the population 18 and older vaccinated to 67.2%.
There are still outbreaks in the following long-term care homes:
- Brookside Lodge (Fraser Health)
- Chartwell Carlton Care (Fraser Health)
- Cherington Place (Fraser Health)
- Heritage Manor (Northern Health)
- Spring Valley Care Centre (Interior Health)
There are two outbreaks in Lower Mainland hospitals: Lions Gate and Richmond Hospital.
