Fraser Health continues to lead with the highest number of new COVID-19 cases.

New COVID-19 cases over the last 48 hours dropped slightly to below 500 cases for both days – but the seven-day moving average remains at an elevated level.

According to new data released through the provincial COVID-19 dashboard, Nov. 10 saw 489 new cases in the province – followed by another 473 on Nov. 11. The new numbers are down from the 555 reported on Nov. 9, but the seven-day moving average only dipped slightly from 518.3 cases to 492.1 cases during that time.

For both days in the last 48 hours, Fraser Health continues to lead with the highest number of new cases, adding 145 and 165 cases for each day. Those numbers, however, are lower than the pre-Remembrance-Day 24-hour figure of 197 cases.

In fact, that downward trend was observed in other health regions in the last 48 hours, as well: Interior Health (112, 140) falling from 114 cases, Northern Health (99, 60) dropping from 106, and Island Health (74, 59) from 88. Only Vancouver Coastal Health (59, 49) remained relatively steady in new case numbers, with 50 cases on the day before Remembrance Day.

The numbers push B.C.’s total COVID-19 cases to date to 211,750, with 204,963 recovered. Active cases in the province now sits at 4,265, down slightly from the 4,321 figure reported just before Remembrance Day.

As of Nov. 12, there are still 384 patients hospitalized with the disease – with 124 of them in intensive care. Fraser Health has the highest number of hospitalized COVID patients (147), followed by Interior Health (66), Northern Health (62), Island Health (60) and Vancouver Coastal Health (49).

Meanwhile, another 23 COVID deaths were reported in the last two days. The overall death toll from the pandemic in the province has now reached 2,257. Vancouver Coastal Health saw the highest number of new deaths (11), followed by Fraser Health (8), Interior Health (2), and Northern/Island Health (one each).

On the vaccination front, provincial data shows that 90.6% - or 4,203,203 – of eligible people aged 12 or older have received their first dose of a COVID vaccine, and 86.6% (4,013,176) have received a second dose.

The amount of COVID testing in the province has also remained relatively consistent, with 14,249 and 13,329 tests administered in B.C. over the last two days respectively – not far off of the pre-Remembrance-Day figure of 15,236.

The seven-day average positive rate of tests, however, has noticeably declined since late October. Daily positive rates currently sit at 3.9% for both days in the last 48 hours, down from 4.1% just before – and from figures hitting a high of 4.8% as recently as Oct. 28.

Additionally, the province has announced two new health-care facility outbreaks: Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. Meanwhile, outbreaks at four facilities (The Emerald at Elim Village, Bethshan Gardens, Hallmark on the Park and GR Baker Memorial Hospital) were declared over.

With those changes, there are now 25 B.C. facilities with ongoing outbreaks.
