Laura Jones to fill vacancy left by former BCBC CEO Greg D'Avignon

The Business Council of BC (BCBC) has a new CEO.

Laura Jones has been named the BCBC’s new president and CEO, filling the vacancy left in January, when former BCBC CEO Greg D’Avignon left after 12 years to become a partner at Canadian Strategy Group.

Jones is no stranger to advocacy for business. For 20 years, she has been with the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB), most recently as chief strategic officer and executive vice-president. She has authored and co-authored numerous research reports and policy briefings on topics affecting Canadian business.

“We are excited that Laura Jones will be leading the Business Council of British Columbia,” Susannah Pierce, BCBC’s board chairwoman, said in a press release. “She brings passion, energy, and decades of policy experience to our organization.”

“I’m delighted to be joining an organization and a team that I have long admired for its dedication to bringing people together to lift the prosperity of the province and those who live here,” Jones said.

“A strong economy is the foundation that affords us the resources to do so many important things from providing for families to looking after the vulnerable and protecting the environment. I couldn’t be happier to be focusing more of my attention on the province I’m proud to call home.”
