Congratulations, you made it!

Class of 2021 graduates have a unique experience to bring with them into the next chapter of their lives. Despite the uncertainty of navigating a global pandemic for your entire senior year, each of you have risen to the challenge. You have demonstrated resilience, strength and courage.

Recently, I read an article which stated that “building resilient students is not about teaching them how to become successful. It’s about teaching them how to respond when they’re not successful.”

I felt a sense of pride when I read it because I know that each of you have demonstrated agility, a willingness to find new ways to learn, to connect, to progress and to make your way here today.  You are resilient.

Whether you start the next chapter of your journey by entering the workforce, continuing education, or taking a gap year, do whatever you are going to do with an awareness of all that surrounds you. Continue to observe, learn, grow, be courageous, show gratitude and enjoy the journey.

Dream big but stay flexible. Accept that your dreams will probably not play out exactly as you imagine and that is okay, because you will always be fulfilled in the pursuit of your dreams.

Congratulations, class of 2021. All the best to you in your path forward.
