Ruth Allan, known as the Credit Union Lady, shared her birthday cake with great-grandson Thomas Fear, aged eight months.
During an afternoon tea at Town Centre Hotel last Friday, family and friends gathered to celebrate her 100th birthday. In addition to the community celebration, there was a family dinner and picnic to mark the occasion.
Earlier this year, Allan was feted at First Credit Union’s 75th dinner and dance where she was presented with flowers and diamond jewellery as appreciation for the many years when she directed the credit union’s school savings program.
