First Credit Union marketing and community impact manager Tara Chernoff [left] and Concentra manager of strategic alliances Nolan Foster presented a $25,000 Empowering Your Community grant to Powell River Hospice Society president Heather Baldwin at Hike for Hospice on Saturday, May 5, at Willingdon Beach.

The grant, one of 17 offered nationally, will go toward fundraising efforts to build a four-bed hospice house in Powell River.

The hospice society offers social, emotional and spiritual support to individuals at the end of their lives.
