Cops for Cancer tour visits School District 47

Students, teachers and staff raise hefty amount for research

Powell River RCMP constable Alex McNulty was one of the cyclists with Cops for Cancer Tour de Coast who visited the qathet region and School District 47 (SD47) on Monday, September 18.

Marta Brylynska, SD47 communication coordinator, said that “the amount raised, the collective total within our district was around $5,000.”

James Thomson Elementary and Henderson Elementary schools had a friendly competition to see who could raise the most funds for Tour de Coast; James Thomson won that competition, according to Brylynska.

The Cops for Cancer Tour de Coast peloton arrived at the Saltery Bay Ferry terminal at 9:15 am on September 18, and made several stops throughout the day, including seven schools, according to a Powell River RCMP media release. The ride began Friday, September 15, in the Lower Mainland.
