On August 26, a Cormorant helicopter from 442 Squadron, 19 Wing, Comox, was on a pilot training and search and rescue technician training exercise at Powell Lake.
According to the Canadian Forces Base Comox public affairs office, the helicopters usually undertake lake training at Comox Lake, but there was inclement weather on Vancouver Island, so they came to Haywire Bay to continue their water training.
