Creation of a new riding leads to party executive

With the creation of a new federal riding by the BC Federal Boundaries Commission, comes the creation of a new Liberal Party riding organization.

The organization was launched at a founding meeting and a new team is ready for the next election slated for October 15, 2015.

Kim Barton-Bridges is a resident south of town and she sits on the executive as vice-president Powell River. President is Janice Cashin of Courtenay.

The organization volunteers that of the three new ridings affecting the North Island and Powell River, the creation of the Vancouver Island North/Comox/Powell River riding will create confusion among many areas. It will be difficult for any party to negotiate the boundaries and ferry rides, but the new organization believes it is up to the challenge.

Anyone wishing to meet the new executive, Liberal Party supporters and those seeking nomination are welcome to attend a special meeting at 3 pm on Sunday, April 27, at the Tee Box, Comox Golf Course, 1718 Balmoral Avenue.
