Creative fires burn bright at library session

Diverse group of presenters to take part

Powell River Public Library will be lighting campfires, in a literary form, this year.

Thought-provoking entertainment is the spark organizers hope will draw people to Campfire Sessions, which start at 7 pm on Saturday, April 12, at Studio 56 in Townsite.

“Campfire Sessions are about sharing ideas and inspiration,” said Katie Kinsley, adult services coordinator at the library. The sessions are set to run twice a year and each session will feature eight to 10 presenters. Each presenter has eight minutes to share a performance or presentation on a theme.

“We are kicking off the series with a session on creativity,” she said. “We want to celebrate and nurture creativity in our community and to think about it broadly.”

With a diverse group of presenters, including a local brewer, poet, storyteller, art therapist and choir master, the first Campfire Session promises to be a “night of energetic, conversation-creating fun.”
