Happy Monday!

Lisa Hansen submitted today’s featured photo of cherry trees blossoming in Westview last month.

To submit a photo for Photo of the Day consideration, send it via email to editor@prpeak.com with the subject line “Photo of the Day.” Remember to include where and when you took the picture, what it is and your name (we want to give you credit). Horizontal photos are preferred.

On this day:
In 1944, 450 Canadian paratroopers were dropped behind enemy lines to assist 150,000 American, Canadian and United Kingdom troops who left England on ships to start the World War II D-Day attacks on German positions in Normandy, France. Canadians charged Juno Beach, the Americans stormed Utah and Omaha beaches, and the British were dropped at Sword and Gold beaches.

Today’s weather:
A mix of sun and cloud is forecasted for Monday, June 6, with a high of 17 degrees Celsius and a 30 per cent chance of showers. Skies are expected to be clear in the evening, while the temperature may drop to seven degrees Celsius.
