On this day:
In 1928, Amelia Earhart became the first woman on a trans-Atlantic flight as a passenger with pilots Wilmer Stultz and Louis Gordon. She kept the flight log.

In 1994, former NFL star O.J. Simpson was arrested and charged with the murders of his ex-wife Nicole and her friend Ronald Goldman. He was later acquitted in a criminal trial, but held liable in a civil trial.

Mainly sunny skies are expected during the day on Friday, June 17, with increasing cloudiness late in the afternoon and a high of 21 degrees Celsius. The evening forecast calls for clouds and a low of 11 degrees.
