In 1937, aviator Amelia Earhart and her navigator Fred Noonan, attempting to make the first around-the-world flight in a Lockheed Model 10 Electra, are heard from for the last time before disappearing. Neither they nor the plane has ever been found. Earhart was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.
