In 1886, the first Canadian Pacific transcontinental passenger train trip, which embarked from Montréal, Quebec, arrived in Port Moody, BC. Eight months earlier, a “Last Spike” ceremony was held in Craigellachie, BC, celebrating completion of the Canadian Pacific Railway, fulfilling Canada’s post-confederation obligations to BC.
