In 1952, the Summer Olympic Games in Helsinki, Finland, where 17-year-old George Genereux of Saskatoon claimed Canada’s only gold medal (trap shooting), came to an end. The win led to Genereux later receiving the Lou Marsh Award as Canada’s athlete of the year.
