On this day:
In 1620, the Mayflower set sail for the New World from England with 132 people on board. 

In 1963, Malaysia was created when the Federation of Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore joined together. Two years later, Singapore departed the group.

In 1987, the Montreal Protocol, designed to save Earth’s ozone layer by reducing chemical emissions, was signed by two dozen countries.
