On this day:
In 1957, legendary Montreal Canadiens forward Maurice “Rocket” Richard scored his 500th goal, becoming the first National Hockey League player to accomplish the feat. He scored the goal on fellow hockey hall of famer Glenn Hall of the Chicago Blackhawks. At the time, no other player had reached 400 career goals.
