In 1967, singer Otis Redding was among seven people killed when their plane crashed into Wisconsin’s Lake Monona. He was 26.
In 1992, the cities of Anaheim and Miami were awarded franchises by the National Hockey League. The Anaheim Ducks and Florida Panthers started play in the 1994/1995 season.
In 2001, the movie The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring based on J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, was released in theatres. Two movies followed in the trilogy of films.
