In 1993, hockey hall of famer Mario Lemieux announced he has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. After enduring weeks of radiation treatments and missing games during the 1992/1993 National Hockey League season, he returned and led the league in scoring with 160 points.
In 1995, Canadian crooner Neil Young was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
