Regular contributor Paul den Ouden submitted today’s featured image, which he took from a vantage point on the seawalk in Westview of the Seance, one of four local sailboats braving the elements on a windy Saturday morning earlier this month.

On this day:
In 1965, former prime minister of Great Britain Winston Churchill died in London at age 90.

In 1984, the first Macintosh model from Apple Computer became available for sale. It was the first commercially successful personal computer using a graphical user interface and a mouse, and had a clock rate of 8 megahertz and 128k of RAM.

In 1999, Wayne Gretzky, in his final all-star appearance, was named MVP of the National Hockey League game which pitted Team North America against Europe. The final score was 8-6 in favour of Gretzky’s North American team.
