In 1935, German dictator Adolf Hitler broke military terms set in the Treaty of Versailles by ordering the rearming of Germany.

In 1994, American figure skater Tonya Harding pleaded guilty to conspiracy to hinder prosecution for covering up an attack on rival Nancy Kerrigan. She was fined $100,000 but did not serve jail time.
