Paul den Ouden submitted today’s featured photo of a boom boat operator moving a completed section of logs farther up the logpond, which he took earlier this month from above on the path at the southwest corner of the new wastewater treatment plant in Townsite.

On this day:
In 1973, a tennis match between Bobby Riggs and Billie Jean King billed as the “Battle of the Sexes” took place in Houston, Texas, with King winning the match and prize money totalling $100,000. Approximately 90 million people watched the match worldwide.

In 1990, reunification was ratified by East Germany and West Germany.

In 2012, a National Football League game at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas set a regular-season attendance record (105,121).
