On this day:
In 1962, The debut single, "Love Me Do", from The Beatles first album, Please Please Me, was released.

Also in 1962, the premiere of Dr. No marked the first on-screen appearance for the character James Bond, played by Sean Connery.

In 1984, the first Canadian astronaut, Marc Garneau, was aboard the space shuttle Challenger when it took off an eight-day mission.

In 2011, Steve Jobs, who co-founded technology company Apple, died in California at the age of 56.
