On this day:
In 1960, Ottawa’s Ron Stewart rushed for a Canadian Football League record of 287 yards in one game against Montreal Alouettes.

In 1969, the album for the Jesus Christ Superstar soundtrack, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics from his collaborator Tim Rice, was recorded.

In 2004, actor Christopher Reeve, who portrayed Superman in multiple movies and became a quadriplegic after a horse riding accident nine years earlier, died at age 52.
