Cowichan Valley defeated the Kings 4-3, but the real winner was Powell River and District Christmas Cheer, which received all proceeds from the event.

In 1892, John Sparrow David Thompson (Liberal-Conervative Party) became the fourth prime minister of Canada and held the position until his death in 1897.
In 1970, a replica Stanley Cup and the real Conn Smythe and Bill Masterson trophies were stolen from the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. The trophies were left in a Toronto police officer’s driveway two weeks later.
In 2017, Russia was banned from the Winter Olympics in South Korea due to state-sponsored doping.
