On this day:
In 1879, physicist Albert Einstein was born in Germany.

In 2011, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, welcomed Alice Cooper, Neil Diamond, Dr. John,  Darlene Love, Leon Russell and Tom Waits as inductees.

In 2018, theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking, who lived with ALS for more than 50 years, died at his home in Cambridge, England.
