On this day:
In 1937, 35 of the 97 people on board were killed when the hydrogen-filled German airship Hindenburg caught fire and crashed while docking in New Jersey. One crew member died on the ground.

In 1954, medical student Roger Bannister becomes first to run a sub-4 minute mile (3:59.4) during a track meet in England.

In 1968, the album Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison, which was recorded at the prison four month earlier, was released.
