If this dog could talk, she'd say 'Keep Easter treats away from pets'

Anori thought Glosette Raisins were a treat, then she had to be taken to the vet

Anori, an 11-year-old smallish breed dog, had to go to the vet after she ate a whole bag of Glosette Raisins.

A Kamloops vet clinic is warning people to keep their Easter treats away from pets.

In a Facebook post shared Thursday afternoon, Kamloops Veterinary Clinic says it treated a dog a few days ago that had consumed an entire bag of Glosette Raisins.

“We all know that chocolate can be toxic to dogs, and some dogs have sensitivity to grapes and raisins as well. Knowing this, her mom brought her in for treatment immediately,” read the post.

To ensure there was no chocolate mixture left in Anori’s stomach, the vet induced more vomiting. The clinic also did some bloodwork and administered activated charcoal orally (this prevents toxins from being absorbed). Anori was also placed on intravenous fluids for 48 hours to help her kidneys.

“After two days, we rechecked her bloodwork and everything remained normal. Anori was in the clear! Everyone was relieved!”

The clinic says it understands accidents happen and are happy to help when they do.

“With Easter right around the corner, please ensure you have a plan to keep your pets from getting any chocolate or candy.”
