At age 83, Frederic Andrew Davis (Andy) peacefully passed away with his wife Susan and four children at his side.

Andy wrung every last drop of joy out of the life he was given. His passion for the canoe, the wilderness he accessed with his canoe, the people with whom he shared these adventures, the gardens and trails he worked on, the meals he devoured, the conversations he celebrated, the songs he sang and the laughter he shared will long be remembered.

Andy was a well-respected internal medicine specialist, beginning his career in Halifax, moving to Langley, and finishing here in Powell River. His insightful diagnosing and compassionate communication was appreciated by many.

Upon retirement, “Dr. Dirt” emerged. His lifelong gardening passion finally had a full-time outlet: the “Triangular Gardens” were transformed and maintained in the historic Townsite, and Susan and Andy’s Wildwood acreage was manhandled into a gorgeous network of vegetable gardens, flowering shrubs and forest trails.Andy is survived by his wife of 30 years Susan; his first wife Trish; his children Sue (Greg), Bill (Anna), Jan (Graeme) and Geoff (Francine); and his grandchildren Alexander, Hugh, Rosie, Elliot, Amy and Ollie.

There will be a celebration of his life sometime in early July. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Townsite Heritage Society triangle garden.
