In memoriam: Fedele Prencipe

December 23, 1935- June 7, 2022
Fedele Prencipe

Fedele’s memory lives on through Assunta, his devoted wife of 56 years, his two children Giovanni (Shelley) and Antonietta (Glenn), as well as his five grandchildren Alysha (Sidney), Erica, Johnny, Tara (Braedon) and Cory (Mckenna). His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he spent every day proud of them and who they became. His name may have been Fedele, but a name that he held dear to his heart was Nonno.

After being born and raised in Troia, Italy, Fedele made the move to Germany at a young age in a bid to find employment to support his family. He was a family man through and through, so when he heard of employment opportunities in Canada, he made the journey to Powell River, where he spent 28 years working as a grinderman at the local mill.

Soon after making the move to Powell River, he asked his wife to join him and they began their life together raising their two children.

Anyone who knew Fedele, knew that the only thing he loved more than his garden was his family. He spent countless hours nurturing his fruit trees, growing various vegetables and sharing his vast knowledge about gardening.

His retirement took him to his summer oasis at Kent’s Beach campground, where he spent time with his numerous friends and made the campground home, even growing fruit trees and a garden there.

Fedele was an extremely hard worker and a fighter until the end. Our family will always hold our memories of listening to his endless stories of his adventures in Germany close to our heart, as well as our countless games of scopa, frustration and any card game that would make him laugh.

A drop-in reception for Fedele will be held on June 19 from 1 to 3 pm at Town Centre Hotel, where refreshments will be served. Donations in Fedele’s memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.

Our family would like to acknowledge the wonderful doctors, nurses and hospital staff of Powell River General Hospital’s emergency department and fourth floor for their exemplary care and compassion during Fedele’s final days. Our family will forever be grateful for your care.

We will forever hold his memory and love in our hearts.
