George is lovingly remembered by his wife Marielle; daughters Cathy (Edwin) Tucker and Christine (Colin) Dunn; stepdaughters Chantal (Bryan) Barratt and Darquise (Peter) Chamandy; and his sister Helen MaComb. His grandchildren include Anna, Kate, Emily, Samantha, Carson, Will, Autumn, Theo and Joe, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father George, mother Mary (Tauber), brother John, and wife Barbara Ann (Smith).

George grew up in Port Alberni, where he developed a love of hunting and fishing. In 1968, he moved to Powell River and worked for MacMillan Bloedel for more than 30 years.

George was a loving husband to his beautiful wife Barb and raised his two daughters with pride, love and respect. He was involved in the community as a Scouts leader, member of the Lion’s Club, and taught catechism in the Catholic Church for many years. George married Marielle in 2005 and they enjoyed their retirement years together.

George will be remembered for his contagious laugh and his endless kindness. After many years of living with diabetes, he was tired, and God has welcomed him home with open arms.

We want to thank Dr. Barrie McDonald for his total support and care; Dr. Musini for being his liaison with all his specialists; Dr. Burns for the years of care for Barbara and George; Dr. Leung (Vancouver); Dr. Zorn (Comox); and Dr. Jack.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

A funeral mass will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, January 21, at Church of the Assumption.
