On February 14, 2023, a loving husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Evergreen Care Unit at the age of 90.

Guido was born in Bagnoli del Trigno, Italy, on November 1, 1932. It was there he met his wife Lucia. They were married on September 24, 1955.

A few years later, like many, they immigrated to Canada, then onto Powell River for a better life. It was in Wildwood where he built his forever home.

Guido is survived by Lucia; daughter Carla (Carlo); son Robbie and his three grandchildren Nicole, Leah and Alex; brother Nicola (Nina); sisters-in-law Rosina and Lina; brother-in-law Albert; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother Carolina, father Domenico, brother Romano and brother-in-law Rod.

When Guido first arrived in Powell River, he worked for two years at the Rodmay Hotel as a bartender. He then got a job at MacMillan Bloedel, where he stayed with the company until he retired in 1996.

In his retirement he loved working in his garage; it was his sanctuary. He had many hobbies and projects on the go but really enjoyed making prosciutto, salami, pasta, bread and wine, which he loved sharing with his family and friends. He also enjoyed going to the Italian Club to play cards with his friends.

Guido was a gentle soul who was loved by many. He was kind, caring and always willing to help. He lived his life to the fullest with no regrets. He will be missed.

The family would like to thank the staff at ECU who took excellent care of Guido, especially in his final days, his family doctor Martin Andreae and his staff, and the Home Support Team, who took care of him before he went to ECU.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Alzheimer Society of BC.

Prayers will be held Friday, February 24, at 7 pm at Church of the Assumption, followed by a funeral mass on Saturday, February 25, at 1 pm.
