In memoriam: Rosemary Ann Hauck (née Spick)

January 16, 1957 - July 21, 2022

We are saddened to announce the passing of Rosemary Ann Hauck. She is survived by Jeffrey, her husband of 15 years, her daughter Alexandria and her grandson Lochlan. Rosemary is also survived by her mother Doris, siblings John (Mariel), Robert (Gale), Kathryn (Charles) and Janine (Don), and their children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her father Warren Spick, who sadly passed in January of this same year.

Rosemary was born in White Rock and raised in Powell River from the age of eight until she made her way to BCIT for a diploma in agriculture and biology. She married Geoffrey David Brown in 1981 and shortly after relocated to Hollywood, California, USA, where they had a daughter, Alexandria, affectionately known as Allie.

Rosemary resided in California until her return with Alexandria to the beautiful British Columbia in April 1996. Rosemary was very happy to be closer to family and friends, including Hilary Holliday, her mother-in-law, with whom she was very close until Hilary’s passing in October 2011.

On July 13, 2007, while at work, Rosemary met her now husband Jeffery Loren Hauck, as he was admiring her place of employment, a building which was designed and built by her brother John, and in which she worked for many years. They married a year later, on July 13, 2008.

In 2010, Rosemary and Jeffery relocated to Edmonton, Alberta, to pursue new career opportunities and adventures. Rosemary worked at the University of Alberta as a statistical analyst, a position she excelled in and was very much appreciated for.

Rosemary returned to Powell River on June 25, 2022, to be surrounded by family and friends and to enter palliative care. Rosemary and Jeffery were fortunate during that time to have the opportunity to celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary together on July 13, 2022, in the hospital, eight days before her passing.

Rosemary, to her last day, was kind, giving, polite and appreciative of all those she came in contact with. A more loving person, you will be hard pressed to encounter and she will be dearly missed.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to qathet General Hospital, whose staff greatly assisted Rosemary and family in her final days, or the alternative, a donation to her grandson’s education fund, a cause close to her heart, via [email protected].
