Life gets busy and it is easy to forget when your bins go to the curb or when depots reopen after a holiday. Luckily for you there is Recollect.

Residents can sign up to Recollect for weekly collection reminders and to receive notifications for service interruptions like snow days, depots closures and solid waste events such as Trash Bash. It’s simple and it’s free.

Rural residents can sign up by going onto the qathet Regional District website and looking under “Solid Waste and Recycling” and city residents can go to the City of Powell River website under “Solid Waste Management/Garbage.” All you do to sign up is type in your address and set your alert preference. It only takes a few seconds.

If you are the old-school type, you can get a reminder by phone or you can choose the email or text option. Not only do you receive reminders and notifications, you can also access your collection calendar online or print one out from home.

Recollect is a great communication tool and important way for Let’s Talk Trash and local government to engage with you more directly and keep you informed when it comes to recycling, composting, waste collection events, reduction tips, program changes and so much more.

When changes happen that affect what items are accepted at our local depots, a quick notification from Recollect will let you know before you bring the item to the depot and have it turned away.

The world of solid waste is ever changing. Direct and timely communication is key to having successful programs with high participation rates.

Sign up to Recollect and be in the know.

Get reminders
Subscribe to weekly email, phone or text message reminders, plus you get to pick the date and time of the reminder. Reminders shift to account for holidays and remind you only about what is being picked up that week.

Get a calendar
You can print the calendar specific to your address. You can also download your collection schedule into your personal digital calendar (Microsoft Outlook, iCal, Google Calendar).

Educational messaging
You will see or hear educational messaging in your reminders. These messages may be about changes to accepted materials, upcoming events, encouraging recycling habits and proper sorting, providing seasonal tips or information about upcoming environmental events.
