FESTIVE FUNDS: Powell River Professional Firefighters Charitable Society was presented the proceeds of the donations made to the Tee’s The Season holiday light-up event at Putters Mini Golf over two weekends in December.

On hand to present the proceeds recently were [from left] Brad Collicutt, president of BC Professional Fire Fighters Local 1298; Ryan Kolba, Local 1298 treasurer; Ryan Formosa, from the Davic Group, which owns Putters and hosted the event; and Mitch Green, Local 1298 secretary.

From the event, $2,653.40 was donated from the community, plus $367.50 raised through a 50/50 draw. The firefighters stated that on behalf of the charity, they would like to thank the Formosa family, Putters staff and management for including Powell River Fire Rescue crews in this gift of light to the community.

Proceeds will be used to help families, through the BC Professional Firefighters Burn Fund, who have survived traumatic burn injuries, as well as to fund school food programs, house fire safety and other local charitable initiatives, according to Powell River Fire Rescue coordinator and public educator Trish Greenwood.
